Last weekend Full Tilt Poker pro Jonathan Karamalikis triumphed in the 2010 Asia Pacific Poker Tour – Main Event to get the first prize of AUD$459.510 (US$452.000).The 22-year-old won the $6.000 buy-in event in Sydney after besting a field of 289 players.
To succeed in the tournament and to face fellow Aussie Ben McLean in heads-up play Karamalikis scuffled his way through the competition; as the Full Tilt Poker Review play moved on to the second hour, Karamalikis turned up the aggression and dared not to look back. On the final hand of play, with A-6, McLean went all-in but Karamalikis called with his pocket fives. His hand held up and he grabbed the title.
